IOWA CITY The Iowa football program announced its five-man transfer portal class on Friday, signaling the end of it additions via the transfer portal during the winter window.

The group includes quarterbacks Mark Gronowski (South Dakota State) and Hank Brown (Auburn), wide receiver Sam Phillips (Tennessee-Chattanooga) and defensive lineman Jonah Pace (Central Michigan) and Bryce Hawthorne (South Dakota State).

South Dakota State quarterback Mark Gronowski was selected to the Associated Press FCS All-America team on Tuesday.

AP File Photo "We are happy to welcome these five players into our Hawkeye program." head coach Kirk Ferentz said.

"I am most excited about how each player fits into our program and brings a skillset that benefits our team." According to a press release from the program, Brown, Phillips, Pace and Hawthorne will participate in spring practices.

Gronowski requires surgery and will not begin on-field team activities until June.

"Mark played last season with a common football-related injury," Ferentz said.

"While he could have continued to play through the injury, Mark is choosing to have a procedure to address the issue, and we support him in his decision.

"Our sports medicine team thoroughly reviewed his records and has confidence he will be fully rehabbed in time to participate in our summer program.

Mark will participate in all non-practice team activities while he recovers." 3 Takeaways from Mark Gronowskis commitment to Iowa: Hawkeyes got a winner Iowa adds FCS pass-catcher days after quarterback addition Iowa transfer portal tracker: FCS WR joins Hawkeyes.
